- RM CreativeDeviceFromSurface() D3DRMERR_BADDEVICE
- If you are running Windows in anything but 16-bit color, there is a good chance you will see this error. Changing the color depth to 16-bit should fix this.
- You get the error message "DDRaw.DLL not found" :
- You need to have DirectX installed to work Worldcraft. DirectX3 is the newest version and can be found on the Worldcraft homepage
- You have some problems upgrading from version 1.0b to 1.2:
- There is flaw in the upgrade patch for 1.2. You must upgrade worldcraft from the directory /program files/worldcraft. It is suggested that you reinstall worldcraft fresh from your CD to this directory then run the upgrade patch after that. There is also a bug in the QBSP.EXE found in the 1.2 patch, you will want to use the QBSP.EXE found in 1.0b, do not overwrite this version.
- After Upgrading to 1.2, Problems with QBSP finding multiple texture wads:
- There's a problem with the QBSP.EXE that was distributed with the upgrade patch for 1.2. You can go back to a previous version of QBSP, or download a new one.

- Worldcraft crashes when you open a map or place a camera:
- There are three known causes for this to happen;
- You are running an outdated version of DirectX. DirectX3 is the newest version. You will need to download a new version.
- You have your color settings in Windows set to 16 million colours. This can cause a problem with some 3D video cards; reduce the amount of colours.
- If you are using a 3D video card turn off your hardware acceleration. This can be found in the tools --> options --> 3D views menu.
- Problems Using Vis Groups in 1.1:
- There was a problem with 1.1 with Vis Groups. This is fixed in version 1.1a
- Worldcraft crashes when I make a cylinder or a spike with greater than 16 sides:
- Ben is aware of this problem. It will be fixed in version 1.3.
- Where to find texture files :
- In the newest versions (1.1a shareware, and 1.2 registered) there is an extract textures button in the tools --> options window.
- Problems loading a BSP file into Worldcraft.
- A BSP file is the compiled format of a Quake map. Unlike DOOM, it is not possible to de-compile a BSP. You need to get the original .MAP or .RMF file in order to edit it.
- The textures in the browse window and the 3D view look bad
- You probably have windows set to 256 colours. Worldcraft's looks best when windows is set to 16 bit colour mode.
- "System Load Very High" warning.
- Try lowering the undo levels under Tools -> Options.
- When I run VIS it crashes.
- It is more than likly that VIS hasn't crashed, but it still working. An average map can take several hours to vis on a pentium. A large map, especially with large open areas, could take much longer. It's best to let it run over night.
- QBSP gives an error unable to allocate xxx bytes:
- You have run out of disk space. QBSP uses up a HUGE amount of memory 60-100MB. Once you run out of memory windows95/NT will start to create a swap file on the hard drive. If that in turn runs out then QBSP will exit with that error. Try freeing up some hard drive space.
