Raven (or Raven City) is an experimental GoldSrc mod of upgrades and code changes that its creator, Andrew Lucas, has elected to make available for reuse through the Valve Developer Union site. The source code/asset sources and an unfinished build of the mod are available separately down below.
The most notable upgrade to the code is full support for Quake's MDL format. A few entities, including the Shambler and Grunt enemies, were recreated in the current build as a demonstration. To make use of any Quake features, a copy of Quake's palette.lmp is required in the game's
gfx folder. A few Half-Life: Opposing Force and Team Fortress Classic weapons were also recreated and reimplemented.
Entities allowing for vertex lighting on models, fog, model cameras, and weather have been implemented, among other additions. Stencil shadow and model rendering code is entirely custom and can be implemented into any GoldSrc mod. More information about changes made to the code can be found in the readme included in both downloads.
